Fans couldn't believe their eyes
when ex-soap star Dean Sullivan hit the ring at The Insane Championship
Wrestling (ICW) event at the O2 Academy.
The 59-year-old suddenly entered the
ring after
Scottish villain Jackie Polo began badmouthing Merseyside, the Liverpool ECHO reports.
Emerging to the Brookside theme
tune, the TV hardman defended Liverpool's honour by squaring up to Polo, before
knocking him out with a swift left hook.
The crowd roared their approval and
Dean posed for photos with hometown hero Frankie Sloan and ICW Heavyweight
Champion Jack Jester.
The event featured some of the best
grapplers in Britain, including former WWE Superstar Drew Galloway.

One ICW fan @Poliwhirl1878 tweeted:
"Jimmy corkhill has just come out and caused havoc hahaha. Hats off to the
@InsaneChampWres this is brilliant"
Another poster @MrTom wrote:
"Jimmy Corkhill just got in the ring and punched a guy out. No joke."
Twitter user @KBizz1e said: "I
can't believe I'm at ICW and Jimmy Corkhill has just interrupted a promo and
knocked the guy out."
And @shocktreatment joked: "Saw
Bret/Bulldog at Summerslam 92 and the streak end at Mania. New #1 moment: Jimmy
Corkhill run-in @InsaneChampWres"
Glasgow-based ICW is known for its
extreme action, hardcore style and wild crowds.
It became the most talked about
British wrestling promotion after starring in a BBC documentary called 'Insane
Fight Club' in March and is currently on a four-date UK tour.
Earlier this year ICW promoter Mark
Dallas compared his company to "a violent adult soap opera with a lot of
twists and turns."
It would seem a perfect fit for
Dean, who played bad boy Jimmy in Brookside for 17 years, joining the cast in
1986 and staying in the soap until it ended in 2003.
The Channel 4 show featured some of
TV’s most controversial storylines, including Anna Friel’s lesbian kiss and the
body buried under the Jordaches’ patio.
