Doctor Who spoilers: Grantchester’s James Norton returning for Peter Capaldi?

Grantchester star, James Norton, has revealed that he would like to make a return to Doctor Who and work with the new Time Lord, Peter Capaldi.

The actor, who has just starred in Death Comes to Pemberley, the movie Rush and Sarah Lancashire mini-series Happy Valley as well as his current project, Grantchester, first appeared in Doctor Who last year.

Starring aside Matt Smith’s Doctor and current companion Clara Oswald (Jenna Louise Coleman), Norton played a Russian sailor named Onegin in the episode entitled Cold War, which saw The Doctor and Clara facing the notorious Ice Warriors for the first time since 1974.
It would seem that the actor, whose Grantchester character Reverend Sidney Chambers has caused quite a stir with the female viewers, enjoyed the experience immensely as he has revealed that he wants to come back and add another Time Lord notch to his Doctor Who bedpost!

Discussing the prospect in a recent interview with the Radio Times, Norton revealed that, as well as wanting to return to the show, the thought of working with Peter Capaldi, who made his show debut earlier this year, made the idea even more appealing, explaining to the publication:
“I’d also love to work with Peter Capaldi,
“He’s a great actor. I have a lot of respect for him.”
However, Norton appreciates that a return would spell a whole new role for him as Onegin was killed in the episode by Skaldak, a Martian Ice Warrior, in an exit that Norton describes as “fairly gruesome”, but he has a few other ideas about how he could return, as he explained:
“Maybe they could quietly recast me as someone else. It was a lot of fun.”

“Perhaps they could put a mask on me. Or they could perhaps bring back Onegin again, from the alien’s belly…”
Whilst concluding that if Doctor Who “wanted” him back then he would do so, “happily!”
