Kobe Bryant: My Daughter Can Date When She's Married

Kobe Bryant: My Daughter Can Date When She's Married

Can you imagine taking out Kobe Bryant's daughter? Neither can the NBA player.
The Los Angeles Lakers star sat down with the The Insider's Michael Yo and revealed that — like most parents — he's scared for his 12-year-old daughter, Natalia, to enter her teenage years. "That's when you wish you can just freeze time and just not go through that period," confessed Bryant, who
also has a 9-year-old daughter named Gianna with his wife, Vanessa.

Unfortunately, you can't stop time. "What age can she start dating? When she's married," Bryant cracked. "We still don't know what came first, the chicken or the egg right? I mean, she can date when she's married."
    Poor girl.
He continued, "I'm going to arrange it, it's just going to be when she's married, which by definition means she can't date."

After Yo did his best impression of a young suitor coming by the Bryant home to see one of Kobe's daughters, the hoops star explained how he would answer the door. "Yeah, the idea is to be as intimidating as I possibly can, full black mamba face."
But in all seriousness (or maybe Kobe was serious there), he also talked about the values he tries to instill in his daughter on the soccer field.
"What we try do as parents is we just try to help them navigate through the inner monologue that takes place with kids, not necessarily whether they play well or play bad, we don't care about that, right? But if your daughter goes up and she strikes out, how does she navigate herself through that emotionally, you know what I mean?" he asked. "Is she going to kind of shut down or is she going to try to figure out what she did wrong and kind of correct herself. As parents, we just try to guide them to kind of have that attitude because when you have that attitude you can navigate yourself through it. You can do anything you want."
    Except ask out Natalia.
